What is Usha Arghya?
Usha Arghya is the offering to the rising Sun on the fourth and final day of Chhath. It completes the movement begun at sunset: gratitude for what has passed, followed by faith in what is beginning.
The dawn observance
Families reach the ghat before sunrise with their offerings. As the horizon brightens, vratis stand in the water, prayers and songs continue, and Arghya is offered to Surya Dev. The moment is often deeply emotional after days of careful preparation and fasting.
Parana and blessings
After the offering, the vrat is concluded through Parana according to family custom. Prasad is shared, blessings are received, and relatives return home carrying the quiet relief and joy of completion.
